Documentation of the existing land class types

My investigations show that currently 112 different types of land class are available. Some of them have very similar behaviors, others differ in particular aspects only. This means that the following table is far from complete. In addition, some of the classes changed the appearance between the Beta version and the final version and it may even be that they have different behaviors depending on which latitude band they are placed in. So, the following table may be incomplete, and it may be wrong in some aspects, but it is the result of considerable research. When we learn more about specific land classes, this part of the documentation will be updated. This will be included in subsequent versions of the shareware program for which your license will be valid. So keep safe backup copies of the license files of the registered versions!

To be more precise, a class contains (at least) four properties.

  1. The texture used when the terrain is flat. It has been pointed out that several classes may use the same texture.
  2. The autogen behavior. There are about a dozen different autogen types in FS2002.
  3. The texture used when the slope of the terrain exceeds a certain angle.
  4. The autogen used when the slope of the terrain exceeds a certain angle.

This class is best for densely populated areas on the border between countryside and cities, north of the palm region.
